King Art Games has announced the inclusion of customizable hotkeys in the upcoming title, Dawn of War 4 (DoW4). This feature addition emerged in response to player feedback during initial playtests, as discussed in a recent Discord AMA.
Feature Updates and Plans
Creative director Jan Theysen and senior game designer Elliott Verbiest detailed the development process, noting significant input from test players. Of around 200 suggested features, customizable hotkeys were prioritized. This feature enhances gameplay, granting players greater control over their gaming experience.
While customizable hotkeys will be available at launch, Verbiest mentioned that a replay system and observer mode are planned but may be released after the initial launch. These additional features aim to improve the game's strategic depth and viewing experience.
Game Mechanics and Additional Features
The core gameplay of DoW4 will utilize elements from the 10th edition of Warhammer 40k. However, the game's support for modding and a map editor remains unconfirmed. Verbiest advised interested players to watch for updates on these features in the future.
