The January update, identified as KB5073724, resolves over 112 vulnerabilities in Windows 10. This includes 57 elevation of privilege, 22 information disclosure, and five spoofing flaws. These patches are pivotal for maintaining system security and functionality as Windows 10 nears its end of support in October 2026. The update is also crucial for updating expired Secure Boot certificates, ensuring trust in boot components.
Extended Support and Market Trends
With official support ending soon, Microsoft has extended security updates (ESU) available until 2026-10-13. Users can enroll devices to receive past and future updates by purchasing ESU or syncing through OneDrive. As of the latest analysis, Windows 10's market share increased modestly from 42% to 46% since October, while Windows 11 remains at around 50%. This indicates a steady base for Windows 10 as it reaches its final phase.
