A new GitHub tool named "RemoveWindowsAI" allows Windows 11 users to easily disable the AI features introduced with version 25H2. Created by zoicware, the script provides options to control AI components such as Copilot and Recall.
Script Features and Usage
RemoveWindowsAI runs from a PowerShell console and offers a list of customizable options. The features can be disabled via registry changes or by hiding them in the Settings menu. The script targets AI additions in the stable release and excludes those in Insider preview builds until they become official.
The GitHub page provides setup instructions and a YouTube guide for installation. Additional manual guidance is available for features the script cannot modify, such as Gaming Copilot and OneDrive AI.
User Control Enhancement
According to tests conducted by Tom's Hardware, the script functions as expected. A graphical user interface (GUI) exists for those unfamiliar with command-line usage, complete with a help icon next to each toggle. The "Revert Mode" enables reactivation of disabled AI features.
This development suggests a modest, but meaningful increase in user autonomy over AI capabilities within Windows 11. By controlling these functions, users can tailor their experience to better suit personal or professional needs.
