Warhammer MMO Project Cancelled as NetEase Ends Partnership

08 Nov 2025

Jackalyptic Games announced the termination of its planned Warhammer MMO project after NetEase decided to withdraw support. CEO Jack Emmert confirmed the cancellation, marking the end of the nearly three-and-a-half-year partnership between Jackalyptic and NetEase, which had been working on the project as a first-party studio.

Termination Announcement

Emmert revealed on LinkedIn and through a company statement that the partnership with NetEase will no longer continue, leaving the project without a clear future. The cancellation marks another strategic pullback for NetEase, which has recently discontinued projects like Ghost and Fantastic Pixel Castle.

Impact on Jackalyptic Games

With the conclusion of their collaboration, team members at Jackalyptic are now looking for new opportunities. This cancellation might hinder Jackalyptic's immediate expansion in MMO game development. While specific plans for the Warhammer MMO were not publicized, the project's cessation is a setback for fans anticipating its release.

The impact of this decision reflects broader shifts within NetEase's strategy and could influence other studios considering similar partnerships. Although the future of this specific Warhammer MMO is uncertain, such cancellations can lead to valuable reconsiderations of business strategies and market demands.
