Manor Lords, developed by Slavic Magic and published by Hooded Horse, is set to receive significant updates in 2026, focusing on housing upgrades and revamped trade mechanics. The updates aim to enhance player strategies and economic interactions.
Burgage Plot Upgrades
One of the immediate changes planned is the introduction of a new upgrade level for the Burgage Plot. This will sit between levels 2 and 3, designed to smooth the transition from early to late-game housing development. The developers are adjusting workshop progressions, like baker and cobbler extensions, tying them to higher Burgage Plot levels to promote communal-use buildings early in the game.
Trade Route Changes
The subsequent major overhaul will focus on trade routes. These will now be linked to specific locations with distinct import and export items. Cities offering better prices will make certain routes more appealing, turning them into competitive economic zones. Each route can host up to three merchants, and at least one needs to be hired to commence trading. Full merchant hire allows triggering a buyout, increasing hire costs and setting a cooldown before the next buyout.
Strategic Implications
According to Hooded Horse's CEO, Tim Bender, the new system lets players craft strategic economic plans. For instance, a player might monopolize a resource like Iron Slabs by controlling all merchant positions on related routes, thus driving rival lords to alternative tactics or negotiations. The developers are seeking player feedback to determine if the competitive trade elements enhance strategic engagement or present issues.
