The Mounts Mayhem update debuts for Minecraft on Java and Bedrock editions on 2023-12-09, introducing new mounts, weapons, and mechanics. Mojang has concluded the testing phase and the update is set for release.
New Weapons and Mechanics
The update features a new tiered weapon: the spear. Craftable from wood up to netherite, it offers a fast jab and a charge attack that scales with movement speed. The Lunge enchantment allows for a speed burst, capable of dismounting riders.
Rideable Mobs and Variants
Several rideable mobs join the game. The nautilus, designed for underwater exploration, includes a zombified variant used by drowned mobs. Changes to horses now allow zombified forms in the overworld. The camel, now the tallest mob, always appears with two hostile riders: a husk and a new ranged mob called a parched, equipped with a bow.
