Valve released a notable update for Deadlock on 2025-11-22, modifying core gameplay mechanics and adjusting the abilities of nearly every hero. The update primarily affects how troopers, also known as lane creeps, reward players with resources.
Trooper Mechanics Revamped
The update introduced significant changes to trooper mechanics, affecting how players earn resources. Troopers now drop 'souls' when they die; players must physically collect these by approaching their location. Previously, half of the soul resources were granted automatically to nearby players, but now all must be manually gathered. This change encourages more direct engagements during laning phases, as players who typically farm from a distance must move closer to the action.
Furthermore, healing troopers no longer directly restore health. Instead, they drop medical packs that heal 10% of the missing health of nearby allies, reminiscent of concepts in Heroes of the Storm.
Wide-reaching Hero Adjustments
Alongside these mechanic changes, Valve conducted a balance pass affecting nearly every hero. Most adjustments involve minor numerical tweaks; however, certain heroes like Mirage received significant updates. Mirage's ultimate ability now allows teleportation to friendly objectives, opening strategic opportunities.
These updates not only alter how resources are managed but also impact gameplay strategy and hero viability. As players adapt to these changes, the competitive environment will likely shift.
