Crusader Kings 3 Expands World by 30–40% with 'All Under Heaven'

17 Oct 2025

Crusader Kings 3 expands its playable territory significantly with the new 'All Under Heaven' expansion, launching on 2025-10-28. The update adds China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, increasing the game world by approximately 30–40%.

Performance and Requirements

Paradox Interactive, the developer behind CK3, has implemented various optimization strategies to manage increased CPU demands. Joel Hansson, Paradox's technical lead, stated that the team reduced the simulation tick duration and refined character generation processes to offset the added workload from a 32% increase in baronies and rulers.

Testing on both low- and high-spec systems confirms that the build maintains performance comparable to the current version. Interestingly, the mid-to-late game phases might see improved speed, despite a marginally slower early game.

System Updates and Compatibility

Studio Black has revised CK3’s minimum CPU requirements due to performance inconsistencies with older hardware under heavy load. New minimum recommendations now include an Intel i5-750 or AMD FX-4300 processor with 8GB of RAM.

The update not only optimizes character visibility but also reduces unnecessary elements, though players should expect varying performance outcomes depending on game conditions.
