Windows 3.1 has been resurrected in a fully functional emulation thanks to Jeff Parsons' PCjs Machines emulator, allowing users to access the vintage operating system directly via web browsers. This project simulates the original experience by emulating an IBM PC AT environment.
Operating Environment and Setup
The emulator recreates an IBM PC AT running at 8 MHz, with 2 MB of RAM and IBM VGA graphics, operating on PC DOS 3.30. It uses a faithful recreation of Windows 3.10 via seven 1.2 MB distribution diskettes that include complete directory listings. Users can interact with the Program Manager, Main group, and Accessories folder.

Additional Resources and Nostalgia
Parsons' project provides more than just Windows 3.1; it includes classic software and games from the era. Users can explore shareware, previous iterations of Microsoft Word, PC Magazine archives, and timeless games such as King's Quest and The Oregon Trail. This emulator serves both educational and nostalgic purposes, highlighting technological progress since the early '90s.
