Techland Refines Dying Light Gameplay With Biter Adjustments

27 Sep 2025

The upcoming update for Dying Light The Beast is set to address a significant concern for players: the interaction dynamics with biters. These zombie adversaries have been a source of frustration due to their propensity to catch players off guard with quick, often instant, grappling attacks. Recognizing the impact on gameplay, Techland has outlined a series of changes aimed at empowering players and refining gameplay.

Adjustments to Improve Gameplay

The game director, Nathan Lemaire, shared in a recent developer video that Techland is committed to enhancing the gaming experience by implementing three key changes. The first adjustment provides players with extended time to escape from a biter's clutch before incurring damage. This modification is designed to grant players a fairer chance to react and strategize during encounters.

The second refinement addresses the animations associated with biters’ attacks. By adjusting the start-up animations for bites launched from a distance, players will have better visual cues to anticipate and evade incoming threats. This should reduce unexpected grabs and promote a more strategic approach to combat situations.

Additionally, Techland has focused on altering the behavior of biters once alerted. Newly alerted biters will exhibit a delayed response to grabbing, offering players a crucial window to prepare or reposition themselves at the onset of fights. This change is aimed at reducing the overwhelming sensation many players have reported when engaging these foes for the first time in a scene.

Lemaire emphasized that these adjustments will be introduced in an upcoming hotfix. The game development team is actively testing these changes and remains attentive to player feedback to ensure the adjustments meet the community's needs. This iterative approach exemplifies Techland's commitment to evolving Dying Light The Beast in response to player experiences and feedback.

The community eagerly anticipates these updates, as they signify a step towards a more balanced and enjoyable gaming journey within the rich and vibrant world of Castor Woods.
