Wildgate's New Update Aims to Revitalize Player Interest

13 Nov 2025

Wildgate, the FPS ship battler by Moonshot Games, has struggled on Steam but aims for revitalization with the Emergence update, releasing on 2025-11-19.

Key New Features

The Emergence update introduces two new modes designed to enhance the player experience. A guided onboarding mode will help newcomers learn to join a crew and pilot a ship. A second mode is designed to focus on large-scale battles by removing looting, allowing for concentrated combat experiences.

The update also adds a new character: an alien prospector class capable of reviving teammates. These enhancements are strategically crafted to streamline player onboarding and elevate gameplay quality.

Gameplay Enhancements

Wildgate also introduces a Treasure Hunt mode, offering AI ship battles with quests to gather loot. This mode presents clearer objectives compared to the main gameplay. Concurrently, Fleet Battle mode facilitates teams of up to three ships to practice essential gameplay skills without immediate competitive pressure.

Crucially, both these modes are incorporated into the permanent battle pass progression, enabling sustained player progression even in lower-stakes settings.

Market Dynamics and Free Access

To meet the competitive gaming landscape, Moonshot Games is offering a limited-time free access to Wildgate from 2025-11-20 to 2025-11-24. This strategy aims to attract new players who have been reluctant due to the game's $30 price.

With these updates, Wildgate seeks to mend initial reception hurdles and expand its player base amid competition with more affordable alternatives.
