Studio Wildcard has unveiled a detailed roadmap for Ark Survival Ascended (ASA), outlining new features and expansions from 2025 to 2027. The plan includes rebooted game modes, non-canonical expansions, and content paving the way for Ark 2.
Upcoming Releases and Features
Key releases in the ASA roadmap include a reboot of the PvP spinoff Survival of the Fittest managed by Studio Sirens, expected in Q1 2025. It features meta progression and enhanced matchmaking. Tides of Fortune, a pirate-themed expansion, is planned for late Q2 with a concurrent Genesis Part 1 remake. A World Editor tool is set to release in early Q3 to foster user-generated content. Additionally, Dragontopia, a dragon-themed DLC, is targeted for late 2026, while Atlantis, led by modder Nekatus, is slated for early 2027 with a classical antiquity theme.
Development Team Insights
Studio Wildcard co-founder Jeremey Stieglitz discussed the roadmap's feasibility, acknowledging past delays but noting improvements in hitting shorter timeframes. The development team is improving scheduling reliability, particularly for early targets in the roadmap. The groundwork for future content includes the Legacy of Santiago expansion, due end of 2027, which will trial Ark 2 features including new combat mechanics.
Potential Market Impact
The roadmap suggests ASA can keep fans engaged with competitive content and user-generated expansions while aiding Ark 2 development. However, there’s concern that heavily integrating Ark 2 features into ASA could diminish Ark 2's uniqueness. Wildcard plans to manage content to ensure Ark 2 retains fresh elements.
