Dying Light Expands Variety with 170+ Unique Zombie Designs

15 Sep 2025

Set to release on September 19, 2025, Dying Light: The Beast promises a thrilling new chapter in the gaming world with its expansive variety of zombie designs. Developer Techland has focused on diversifying the game's enemies, introducing over 170 different types of zombies into this immersive universe.

Variety of Infected Designs

The game features roughly 110 variants of Biters, the traditional zombies, which range from bloated and decaying to truly gruesome forms. Accompanying them are about 60 Viral types, with an uncanny design that positions them between human and something far more menacing. This focus on design brings an enriched gameplay experience, making the undead encounters varied and unpredictable.

Special Infected creatures, such as the Howler, Goon, and Spitter, are crafted with references to their former human occupations. This adds a layer of intrigue and strategy, as players will need to recognize and adapt to their different behaviors and attacks. Beyond these, fully mutated enemies like the unsettling Chimeras, inspired by striking medical imagery, and Volatiles, who exhibit impressive parkour skills, ensure that players remain on their toes throughout the game.

Enhanced Gameplay Experience

With nearly 200 unique zombie designs, Dying Light: The Beast aims to offer more than just a visual treat. The varied designs provide distinct mechanics and influences, allowing for a wide array of frightening encounters. This complexity is expected to enhance both the difficulty and engagement level of the game, as players navigate through the post-apocalyptic world while fending off threats that require effective strategy and quick reflexes.

The anticipation surrounding Dying Light: The Beast underlines Techland's commitment to pushing the boundaries of game development by marrying creativity and innovative design. As gamers eagerly await its release, the promise of diverse and harrowing adversaries suggest an adventure that is as challenging as it is captivating.
