Publisher Hooded Horse has announced Darkwood 2, a sequel to the horror survival game Darkwood. The game is being developed by Ice-Pick Lodge, with consulting from the original developer, Acid Wizard.
Game Dynamics and Setting
Darkwood 2 continues the hardcore top-down survival formula, staking its identity on challenging gameplay devoid of quest markers. Players will locate bases, scavenge supplies, manage resources, and construct barricades to fend off threats by night. Set in the former Aral Sea's marshland, the game unfolds a choice-driven narrative influencing characters and the world around them.
Ice-Pick Lodge, known for Pathologic, heads development, ensuring the game's connective tissue remains strong, while Acid Wizard founders offer guidance. Gustaw Stachaszewski of Acid Wizard notes Ice-Pick Lodge truly comprehends what makes Darkwood unique.
Release Plans
Though no exact release date is set, Darkwood 2 will be available on PC and Game Pass. This extends its reach to a broad audience by tapping into existing gaming ecosystems.
