ArcheAge 2 Rebrands as ArcheAge Chronicles, Blending MMO and RPG Elements

25 Sep 2024

Insights from the Leadership

Jake Song, the CEO of XLGAMES, expressed enthusiasm about this new direction, stating, “We are incredibly excited to unveil ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’ to the world. This new title represents our vision of combining the expansive, immersive elements of an MMO with the dynamic, engaging gameplay of an Online Action RPG. We can’t wait for players to experience the next chapter of the ArcheAge universe.”

Sang Woo Han, CEO of publisher Kakao Games, echoed this sentiment, adding, “Kakao Games is proud to partner with XLGAMES to bring ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’ to a global audience. The combination of a richly detailed world and innovative gameplay ensures that ‘ArcheAge Chronicles’ will set a new standard for the genre. We look forward to years of adventures in Auroria with the XLGAMES team.”

Gameplay Changes and Features

While it was previously established that ArcheAge 2 would scale back the large-scale PvP elements of its predecessor in favor of PvE and Guild versus Guild dynamics, the latest press release left some ambiguity regarding the presence of PvP. Notably, the game will introduce instanced housing, a departure from the open-world model of the original. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham elaborated, “In ArcheAge Chronicles, housing will be a cornerstone feature, enabling players to build and customize their own homes. Transitioning from the previous open-world model, ArcheAge Chronicles now features dedicated housing zones where players can showcase their creativity and achievements. Additionally, the game enables multiple players to come together to form vibrant, town-like communities.”

Furthermore, ArcheAge Chronicles promises a rich array of life skills, including farming, crafting, and trading, allowing players to engage deeply with the game world and its economy.

Exciting Raids and Technical Requirements

The game will also feature large-scale PvE raids designed for teams of ten or more players, where coordination and mastery of chain skills will be essential to conquer formidable raid bosses. For those eager to dive into this new adventure, ArcheAge Chronicles is now available for wishlisting across various platforms, including PC Steam, PC Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store.

As players prepare for this upcoming title, they should take note of the system requirements for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game:

  • Minimum:
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-12400/AMD Ryzen 5 5600
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
    • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Recommended:
    • OS: Windows 11 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i7-12700/AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
    • Memory: 32 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
    • Storage: 100 GB available space

With these developments, the anticipation surrounding ArcheAge Chronicles continues to build, promising an engaging experience for both new and returning players alike.
