Black Myth: Wukong Leads Steam Top Ten Pre-Launch Sales Chart

20 Aug 2024

Last week, the gaming community buzzed with excitement as pre-orders for the highly anticipated Black Myth: Wukong soared to the top of the Steam charts, marking it as the highest-grossing title. Set to officially launch today, August 20th, the action RPG is poised for a strong performance, buoyed by its impressive pre-purchase numbers. While reviews have been a mix of positive and critical, the game finds itself at the center of a discussion regarding the guidelines issued to influencers covering its release.

Steam's Competitive Landscape

In a week where Game Science prepares to unveil its potential blockbuster, Counter-Strike 2 from Valve holds steady in second place. Meanwhile, PUBG: Battlegrounds and the Steam Deck continue to showcase their popularity, securing the third and fourth spots, respectively.

Notably, Once Human from Starry Studio has made a remarkable comeback, climbing from fourteenth to fifth place following the release of its 1.1 update. The much-anticipated sequel, Sins of a Solar Empire 2, developed by Ironclad Games, makes a splash in sixth place, marking its debut in the charts after years of anticipation since the original’s release in 2008.

In a strategic move, Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt has re-entered the Top Ten, landing in seventh place thanks to a significant 50% price cut. Conversely, Dota 2 has slipped from fifth to eighth position week-on-week. Naraka: Bladepoint also makes a return, rising from twelfth to ninth, aided by a recent update that has reinvigorated player interest.

Completing the Top Ten is the ever-popular free-to-play title, Apex Legends from EA, which has seen a slight decline, dropping two positions since last week.

Here’s a recap of the Steam Top Ten for the week ending August 20th:

  1. Black Myth: Wukong, Game Science
  2. Counter-Strike 2, Valve
  3. PUBG: Battlegrounds, Krafton
  4. Steam Deck, Valve
