Revolution Software to Launch Broken Sword Remake on PC September 19

17 Aug 2024

Revolution Software has revealed that the highly anticipated remake, Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, is set to launch on PC on September 19th. In conjunction with this announcement, the development team has released a captivating new trailer that showcases the game’s stunning visuals and immersive gameplay.

Revitalized Adventure Awaits

This remake breathes new life into the classic title, inviting players to accompany the intrepid duo, George and Nico, on their globe-trotting adventure. From the romantic streets of Paris to the enigmatic mountains of Syria and the sun-kissed beaches of Spain, players will explore a variety of beautifully rendered locations.

Every aspect of the game has been meticulously crafted; the backgrounds have been completely repainted from the original line art created by the talented Don Bluth layout artists, while the character sprites have been reanimated to enhance the visual experience. Additionally, the audio has received a significant upgrade, delivering a new level of fidelity to both the dialogue and the iconic soundtrack composed by the late Barrington Pheloung.

A New Dimension of Storytelling

One of the standout features of Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is the introduction of a new ‘story mode’. This mode dynamically balances narrative and gameplay progression, promising an engaging and fluid experience for players.

Charles Cecil, the founder and CEO of Revolution Software, shared insights into the game’s evolution:

“Point and click offers a simple interface from which captivating, challenging gameplay emerges. But the user experience has remained unchanged since the ‘90s when Broken Sword redefined the genre. Our research suggested that gamers now prefer a more contemporary experience. Broken Sword has a hugely passionate fan base, which runs over three generations. With these graphic and user experience enhancements, we look forward to hearing from fans once the game crosses over, once again, to a fourth generation who love narrative-driven games.”

As anticipation builds for the release, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates and to immerse themselves in the nostalgia of this beloved franchise, now revitalized for a new generation of gamers.
