ControlUp Unveils Windows 11 Readiness Assessment Tool
ControlUp has unveiled its latest innovation in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) management with the introduction of the ControlUp Edge DX Windows 11 readiness assessment tool. This tool has provided intriguing insights into the current state of enterprise Windows endpoint devices, revealing that over 11% of these devices will require replacement to meet the standards necessary for running Windows 11.

Analyzing a substantial sample of over 750,000 enterprise Windows endpoint devices, ControlUp's findings indicate that a significant 82% of these devices have yet to transition to Windows 11. Among those still operating on previous versions, the readiness for migration is promising: 88% are prepared for the upgrade, while a mere 1% can be upgraded to meet the necessary requirements. However, the remaining 11% will need complete replacement to comply with the new operating system’s specifications.
Simon Townsend, Field CTO at ControlUp, emphasized the urgency of this transition, stating, “The clock is ticking for enterprises to adopt the more secure and capable Windows 11, yet many organizations are stuck, unsure about their environment’s readiness.” He further noted that with over four in five devices still needing to make the switch, it is crucial for businesses to assess their readiness to facilitate a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
The Importance of Timely Migration
As organizations prepare for the migration to Windows 11, the assessment of endpoint devices is a vital step, particularly with Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 10 looming on October 14, 2025. Windows 11 demands specific device features and system requirements, such as a 64-bit CPU, Secure Boot, and a TPM 2.0 chip, to ensure optimal security and performance. Devices lacking these features will not support the new operating system, underscoring the necessity for proactive measures.
