After an extensive early access period, the co-op survival game Core Keeper has officially launched its 1.0 version, inviting players to explore a wealth of new content. Having spent over 40 hours in its subterranean world since its initial release in 2022, I find myself eager to dive back in for another round—or perhaps even more.
New Features and Offerings
The latest update introduces an exciting new biome, a host of formidable bosses, and several character classes that promise to enhance gameplay. For those who have yet to experience the charm of Core Keeper, there are two enticing pieces of news: the game is now available on PC Game Pass, and for those preferring to purchase it on Steam, a 20% discount is being offered for the next ten days.
However, players who have already invested time in the early access version may face a slight disappointment. The worlds created prior to this update are not compatible with the new features introduced in version 1.0. While you can still explore and build in your existing worlds, developer Pugstorm has indicated that these will not be supported in the long term. To fully embrace the new experience, players are encouraged to start fresh with a new world.
Pugstorm elaborates, stating, “The game has a new world generation that will be used for any new worlds created, and we strongly recommend players to create new worlds to get the full experience the game has to offer both during the 1.0 launch and moving forward.”
While it’s a bit disheartening to leave behind my cozy base, the prospect of constructing an even larger and more impressive home in this vibrant underground realm is an exciting challenge. With so much new content to explore, the adventure in Core Keeper is just beginning.
