The long-anticipated release of the PC port for the popular game Ghost of Tsushima has finally arrived, after being a PlayStation console exclusive for four years.
Enhanced Features for PC Gamers
Interestingly, Sony decided to launch the “Director’s Cut” version of the game on PC, which includes all expansions, support for ultra-wide monitors (21:9/32:9), compatibility with DLSS, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS, as well as support for DualSense and Xbox controllers. This move is seen as a strategic effort to cater to the diverse preferences of PC gamers who have been eagerly awaiting this release.
However, the road to this release wasn't entirely smooth. Just a week before the official release of Ghost of Tsushima, Sony banned the game in 180 countries where the PSN service is unavailable, as it is required for the “Legends” mode. This unexpected decision led to Steam and Epic Store refunding all gamers who had pre-ordered the game in those regions.
The only thing Sony didn’t anticipate was the Denuvo protection being cracked almost immediately. As a result, the title quickly appeared on all popular torrent sites, with no PSN linkage required. This development has sparked a debate within the gaming community about the effectiveness of digital rights management (DRM) and its impact on legitimate consumers.
Despite these hiccups, the release of Ghost of Tsushima on PC marks a significant milestone in Sony's strategy to expand its footprint in the PC gaming market. The enhanced features and broader compatibility are likely to attract a new wave of fans, while also providing existing fans with a fresh and enriched gaming experience.
