Windows 10 Update Adds Snipping Tool Feature, Bug Fixes, Improvements

Recent Windows 10 updates have largely focused on bug fixes and improvements, but the KB5039211 update brings an exciting new feature to the table: an enhanced Snipping Tool. This new capability allows users to edit images taken on their Android devices directly within Windows, streamlining the workflow for those who frequently switch between their mobile and desktop environments.

New Snipping Tool Feature

Microsoft is rolling out a new Snipping Tool feature that integrates seamlessly with Android devices. When you capture a photo or screenshot on your Android device, a dialog box on your PC will prompt you to open the Snipping Tool. To enable this feature, navigate to Settings > Mobile devices. Allow your PC to access your mobile devices and select Manage devices. Your PC will receive a Cross Device Experience Host update from the Microsoft Store, which is necessary for the feature to function. Finally, use the Add device option to link your Android phone.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

The KB5039211 update also addresses a total of 12 issues, with some of the most notable fixes highlighted below:

  • An issue where a hidden window with no content in its title bar or client area appears when sharing your screen using certain apps has been resolved.
  • The Share button on USB controllers, which previously did not work with Game Bar, has been fixed.
  • Issues affecting lsass.exe, including it stopping responding after the April 2024 security updates on Windows servers and leaking memory during a Local Security Authority (Domain Policy) Remote Protocol (LSARPC) call, have been addressed.

Persistent Issues

Despite these improvements, four known issues persist with this update:

  1. Copilot causes icons to switch between multiple monitors.
  2. Copilot is not supported if your taskbar is located vertically on the left or right side of the screen.
  3. Microsoft Connected Cache (MCC) node discovery is broken when using DHCP Option 235.
  4. Windows users receive 0x80070520 errors when attempting to change their account profile pictures.

In addition to these fixes, this update also incorporates changes introduced in last month’s KB5037849 preview update bulletin. As always, Microsoft continues to refine the Windows experience, balancing new features like the Snipping Tool with essential bug fixes and improvements.
