NBA 2K25 PC Version to Feature Ray Tracing in The City Mode

01 Sep 2024

In an exciting development for basketball gaming enthusiasts, the upcoming PC version of NBA 2K25 is set to mirror the visual fidelity of its current-gen console counterparts, specifically the PS5 and Xbox Series X. This alignment promises players a visually stunning experience, enhanced further by the introduction of Ray Tracing effects, a first for the franchise on PC.

Enhanced Realism in The City

The official press release from 2K Games highlights a significant milestone: “For the first time, The City is coming to PC. Players with compatible hardware will experience enhanced realism in The City through ray tracing technology.” This statement hints at a new level of immersion, as players can expect a more lifelike environment within The City, thanks to the advanced graphical capabilities.

However, 2K Games has yet to clarify whether these Ray Tracing effects will extend to the console versions of the game. Questions linger regarding the implementation of Ray Tracing technology—will it merely enhance reflections, or will developers utilize Ray Tracing Global Illumination (RTGI) for a more comprehensive visual upgrade?

It is important to note that Ray Tracing will be exclusive to The City, with no indications that these effects will be present during standard gameplay or casual matches. This limitation may disappoint some players hoping for a fully immersive experience throughout all game modes.

NBA 2K25 is scheduled for release on PC on September 6th. According to the Steam page, players will need to create a 2K account, which appears to be a mandatory requirement for access. Interestingly, there are indications that NBA 2K25 may not incorporate Denuvo, a detail that could be either a strategic omission or a deliberate choice to mislead potential buyers, especially when compared to its predecessor, NBA 2K24, which did include Denuvo.

For those eager to dive into the world of NBA 2K25, the official PC requirements are available for review. This information will be crucial for players looking to ensure their systems are up to the task of delivering the best possible gaming experience.

Stay tuned for further updates as the release date approaches!
