Windows 11 has introduced a new preview build in the Dev channel, designated as build 26120, which promises several enhancements aimed at improving user experience. Among the most notable updates is a refined functionality for Voice Access, a feature designed to assist users in dictation tasks.
According to Microsoft’s recent blog post, the latest build offers an upgraded “spelling and corrections experience.” This enhancement allows users to correct misspelled words more efficiently by dictating the correct spelling letter by letter. Notably, the system is designed to keep pace with a faster speaking speed, making the correction process smoother and more intuitive. Additionally, users can now employ dictation commands to select or delete text, further streamlining the dictation process.
Useful moves to help save power
In addition to voice functionality improvements, build 26120 introduces Energy Saver mode, which is set to replace the existing Battery Saver feature. This mode will notify users when their laptop battery charge drops to 20%, prompting them to plug in their device if Energy Saver is set to ‘Always On.’
Another energy conservation recommendation suggests disabling HDR on displays that support it, as this can help reduce power consumption. Users can find these suggestions under Settings > Power & battery > Energy recommendations.
Other noteworthy adjustments include the option to disable ‘enhanced mouse pointer precision’ for those who prefer a different experience, as well as the ability to modify the mouse wheel scrolling direction, accessible through Settings > Bluetooth & Device > Mouse.
While this preview build may not be the most groundbreaking iteration of Windows 11, it reflects Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the operating system.
