Prelude Secures $16M to Advance Endpoint Security Technology

01 Oct 2025

Prelude Security has successfully closed a $16 million funding round, steered by Brightmind Partners with strong support from existing investors such as Sequoia Capital and Insight Partners. This latest influx of capital brings Prelude's total funding to $45 million, setting the stage for accelerated commercialization of its cutting-edge runtime memory protection technology.

Addressing In-Memory Cyber Threats

With research indicating that approximately 75% of advanced cyberattacks operate in-memory, Prelude's solutions are becoming increasingly essential. Cybercriminals have evolved tactics, often bypassing traditional file-based and behavior-based detection methods, which is why Prelude's approach is so critical. By utilizing hardware-level telemetry, the technology is adept at detecting and neutralizing malicious code executions that occur entirely within memory. This methodology coincides with the objectives of the Microsoft Windows Resiliency Initiative, ensuring that Prelude remains at the forefront of innovations designed to protect data integrity and system reliability.

Enhancing Endpoint Security

Prelude's commitment to robust security does not end with detection alone. The company's solutions also offer detailed monitoring and validation capabilities that help organizations optimize the efficacy of endpoint security tools, such as EDR and antivirus programs. Moreover, the new user-mode agent developed by Prelude provides an advanced line of defense against sophisticated hacking techniques, including memory-resident attacks, process injection, and living-off-the-land tactics. These capabilities seek to minimize response times to complex threats like ransomware and hands-on-keyboard attacks, equipping businesses with a proactive stance against evolving cyber risks.

Investor Confidence and Future Vision

The confidence of investors is mirrored in their comments on Prelude's groundbreaking technology. Spencer Thompson, CEO of Prelude Security, emphasizes the consistent development and success of their solutions in practical scenarios. "As we’ve worked with existing customers," he asserts, "we’ve seen first-hand how attackers increasingly live in-memory and evade traditional EDR platforms. This investment enables us to expand and commercialize our ability to detect adversaries at the moment it matters—execution."

Similarly, Stephen Ward of Brightmind Partners points out that Prelude’s approach tackles the core challenges head-on, which could redefine how security solutions are conceived. Bill Coughran from Sequoia Capital adds that Prelude's technology is designed to counter AI-enabled adversaries, setting them on a pioneering path in developing next-generation endpoint protection.

As Prelude Security moves forward, this bolstered financial backing is anticipated to foster further advancements in their platform compatibility and customer deployment capabilities, ultimately broadening their market reach.
