New MGS Delta Gameplay Trailer Highlights Modern Features and Realism

12 Jun 2024

This week has been a thrilling one for Metal Gear Solid enthusiasts, as the Xbox Games Showcase unveiled the first gameplay trailer for MGS Delta, sparking excitement among fans. Additionally, Konami has shared more details about the upcoming remake, including the use of Unreal Engine 5 to render characters and settings, and the option for a "more modern control style" to enhance gameplay experience.

A New Layer of Realism

One standout feature that has captured players' attention is the introduction of permanent scars on Snake as a result of injuries sustained during gameplay. According to Konami, these scars will tell a unique story of each player's journey through the game, adding a new layer of realism and immersion.

While some players have expressed concern about the potential for Snake to become unrecognizable if not careful, others have embraced the challenge, with some even planning no-injury speedruns where any visible scratch would require a restart.

The Fragility Factor

Interestingly, the fragility of Snake's clothes has also become a focal point for some players, with one fan jokingly stating their intention to "absolutely demolish his shirt" as soon as possible.

Despite the novelty of permanent injuries, it is unlikely to be overly punitive, maintaining the spirit of previous MGS games. In fact, this feature is in line with the series' history of quirky and unconventional gameplay elements, such as the ability to defeat The End in MGS 3 by waiting for him to die of old age.
