Tribes 3: Rivals generated excitement with a promising demo during Steam Next Fest in February, but the game has struggled since its early access launch on March 12, 2024. Despite a simple business model with an upfront price and no microtransactions, the player base has dwindled.
According to SteamDB, there are currently only 27 players in Tribes 3: Rivals, with the highest number of simultaneous players reaching 890 at launch. A recent post on the game’s Steam page hinted at further troubles for players, as developer Prophecy announced credits for previous purchases in Starsiege: Deadzone or Tribes 3.
Credits Towards Ultra Strikers
These credits can be used towards Prophecy’s new game, Ultra Strikers, a 3vs3 sports shooter with a cartoony style. While this gesture may offer some value to players, it falls short of a refund and signals the end of support for Tribes 3. Prophecy acknowledges the lack of success for both games and plans to focus on other projects in the future.
Despite efforts to revive Tribes 3, the game’s future looks uncertain as player numbers continue to decline. As the studio shifts its focus, it’s clear that Tribes 3: Rivals may not have the longevity that fans had hoped for. Farewell to a game that struggled to find its footing in a competitive market.
