Google Expands Nano Banana Across Key Products

14 Oct 2025

Google has expanded its Nano Banana AI image tool into several key products, broadening its accessibility and utility across its consumer technology. Originally an internal initiative, Nano Banana is now part of NotebookLM, Google Lens, and will soon enhance Google Photos, enabling AI-powered photo edits.

Integration Details

In NotebookLM, users can utilize Nano Banana to generate images that accompany their notes and summaries. They can choose from six styles, including Watercolor, Anime, and Retro Print. Furthermore, Nano Banana powers Video Overviews, transforming textual content into narrated video summaries.

  • NotebookLM integrates Nano Banana for image generation.
  • Six styles offered: Watercolor, Anime, Retro Print, and more.
  • Video Overviews use AI visuals to enhance presentations.

Features and Capabilities

Nano Banana operates on the 2.5 Flash Image model, which allows for background changes, style adjustments, and merging multiple images. It can enhance low-quality photos and create custom illustrations from text prompts, all while maintaining subject recognition. Notably, Google applies both visible and invisible SynthID watermarks to ensure AI-generated outputs are correctly labeled.

Market Impact

The integration of Nano Banana into Google Lens will introduce a Create mode, allowing users to edit photos instantly. This feature will soon be available in Google Photos, where users can make quick edits and enhancements directly from their photo libraries. This expansion, part of a rollout starting in 2025, marks a significant enhancement in AI-driven image capabilities across Google's user-focused services.

  • Google Lens gains new Create mode powered by Nano Banana.
  • SynthID watermarks ensure transparency of AI-generated images.
  • 2025 marks the beginning of Nano Banana's integration into major products.
