OpenAI has released its Sora app for Android users, expanding from its previous web-only availability for those on the platform. The Sora app enables users to create AI-generated videos with new tools designed to enhance the creative process.
New Features and Tools
The Android app introduces character cameos, allowing users to generate AI videos featuring not just people, but also pets and even inanimate objects. Additionally, the app’s generation interface will showcase trending cameos in real time, offering users fresh creative ideas.
OpenAI has also begun rolling out basic video editing tools. Users can now stitch clips directly in the app. Upcoming features promise to extend Sora's capabilities to a more comprehensive suite, appealing to professional content creators.
Social and User Options
The Sora app is also experimenting with community-focused content channels, which may include specialized groups based on interests such as universities and hobby communities. This shift aims to localize interaction beyond a global content feed, enhancing user engagement.
Alongside these changes, video duration limits have been updated: free users can create 15-second videos, while Pro users can add 10 additional seconds for a total of 25 seconds.
Updated Payment Models
Sora’s payment options include the ability for users to purchase additional video generations once daily limits are reached. Each 10-generation increment costs $4, a system integrated for Sora accounts linked with ChatGPT Pro accounts, recognizing ChatGPT Pro subscribers as Sora Pro users.
The enhancement of storyboarding features exclusively for web-based Pro users underscores OpenAI's strategic tilt toward serving the needs of professional creators. This tool aids users in planning and visualizing their videos beforehand, a feature often seen in advanced filmmaking applications.
