Then, select the contact you wish to message. For added privacy, users can tap the clock icon in the text box to set a timer, causing messages to disappear after a specified time.
Limitations and Privacy Considerations
It's important to note that secret conversations can only be initiated from the Messenger app and will not sync with conversations on Facebook chat or messenger.com websites. This feature is device-specific, meaning conversations appear only on the device they were created on and the device used by the recipient to access them. Despite encryption, there is still a possibility that recipients might share message screenshots.
