Google Photos is expanding its conversational editing feature to eligible Android users in the United States. The Gemini-powered tool, previously limited to Pixel 10 phones, now includes a wider range of Android devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and other non-Pixel models.
Enhanced Editing Features
The new editing interface in Google Photos includes a "Help me edit" text field where users can describe their desired changes. The tool processes requests such as removing reflections, expanding image frames, and restoring faded photos. Users can also input creative prompts, like visualizing a future home setup, for artistic edits.
Eligibility and Requirements
To access the conversational editing feature, users must meet several criteria: they must be 18 years or older, have their Google account language set to English (U.S.), enable Face Groups in Google Photos, and turn on location estimates. Google's aim is to offer advanced editing capabilities to more Android users, enhancing how people interact with their images.
New Creative Tools
In addition to conversational editing, Google has introduced a new Create tab in Google Photos. This update includes an improved collage creator and a photo-to-video generator, providing users with more options for creating shareable clips from their memories.
