Spoof emulator APKs have been shown to enhance game performance on the ROG Phone 9 Pro, offering a clear but costly improvement in gameplay.
Performance Gains and Methodology
Testing on the ROG Phone 9 Pro, Robert Triggs found a spoofed AnTuTu APK significantly boosted frame rates for Crysis. The setup involved a fixed 800×600 resolution and 120 fps cap in maximum performance mode. Average and peak frame rates increased by up to 54% scene by scene.
Heat and Battery Challenges
This performance gain, however, came at a cost in thermals and battery life. Internal temperatures reached 51°C, making the device uncomfortably hot. Power consumption increased by 73% to 139% across different scenes, leading to rapid battery drain.
Balancing Risks and Benefits
While these APKs can transform gaming performance, the trade-offs suggest caution. Elevated heat and power consumption could damage hardware or inconvenience users, making spoofing a niche strategy for resolving specific performance issues.
