Google's Phone app has introduced a new feature to prevent accidental screen rotations during calls, available in its latest beta version.
New Feature in Beta Version
The 202 beta of the Phone by Google app now includes a setting called "Keep portrait mode on calls." This option allows users to prevent accidental auto-rotation, addressing a common issue for those who have auto-rotate enabled.
Users can find this toggle under Settings > Display options > Controls. However, this feature is limited to the beta version, as the stable release 201 does not yet include it.
Installation and Availability
To access this setting, users can download the beta version from APKMirror. Despite its availability, experts advise users to consider waiting for the stable release, as Google has not yet announced a timeframe for a wider rollout.
User Experience Improvement
This change addresses user feedback about unwanted screen rotations during calls, enhancing the app's functionality. By offering this option, Google can better cater to user preferences, providing a more controlled and consistent experience.
