Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, the first device running on Android XR, on 2025-10-22. The headset is part of Samsung’s Project Moohan and highlights the new Android XR platform.
Initial Applications Available
Unity 6's support for Android XR enables several applications from day one. Google Maps XR provides Immersive View, offering detailed 3D environments for exploration. NFL Pro Era, developed by StatusPRO, is the first licensed NFL virtual reality simulation game available on Android XR, Meta Quest, PlayStation VR, and Windows.
Inside [JOB], developed by Owlchemy Labs, introduces users to Android XR interactions. Owlchemy Labs also offers additional Android XR-compatible games including Vacation Simulator, Job Simulator, and Dimensional Doubleshift.
Significance of Unity 6 Integration
The integration of Unity 6 with Android XR allows developers to easily port existing games. Andrew Eiche, CEO of Owlchemy Labs, stated that Unity’s support enabled rapid adaptation of key titles to the Android XR platform. Developing Inside [JOB] was efficient, thanks to Unity 6, fostering creativity and scalability.
The availability of these new apps indicates significant potential for Android XR to expand VR experiences across various platforms, enhancing user engagement in immersive environments.
