Google has updated its Translate app, introducing new features for Live Translate that include support for smart glasses and enhanced audio controls. The changes stem from a recent update labeled version 9.26.46.833192481.11-release.
Enhanced Audio Options
Previously, Live Translate offered only a single toggle for audio playback. The new update introduces specific audio controls for each language. Users can select from options like mute, speaker, headphones, and the anticipated smart glasses. This flexibility will improve real-time multilingual conversations by allowing tailored audio outputs.
Smart Glasses Preparation
Google's interest in integrating Live Translate with smart glasses is highlighted by the addition of the 'Glasses' audio option. This suggests the app is being poised to support audio output directly to smart eyewear, providing a hands-free experience.
Persistent Translation Notifications
Another change includes persistent notifications for Live Translate. This feature will enable users to continue translating while switching between different apps. They can also pause or resume translation from notifications, enhancing multitasking capabilities.
These new capabilities expand the practical use of Live Translate, making it more versatile for business travelers and multilingual meetings. However, it's important to note that while these features are revealed in the app's code, they may still not appear in future public releases.
