Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 Rolls Out for Pixel Devices

17 Oct 2025

Google has released Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 for Pixel devices, introducing enhancements and important bug fixes. The latest update focuses on improving user experience and device stability.

New Features and Improvements

The Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 includes a '+' button next to app shortcuts, allowing users to pin them directly to the home screen. Additionally, a Live Caption shortcut is now available in the volume controls. Users will notice slightly larger icons for the microphone, Google Lens, and AI Mode in the home screen search bar.

Stability and Bug Fixes

This update addresses numerous issues for Pixel device users:

  • Resolving Google Play System Updates installation failures.
  • Correcting home screen shortcuts that appeared as blank gray circles.
  • Fixing incorrect Wallet icon coloring on the lock screen.
  • Ensuring devices do not charge to 100% with adaptive charging enabled.
  • Improving the performance of swipe-up gestures and theme applications.
  • Eliminating 50MP image artifacts and optimizing CPU usage for better battery life.

The update also resolves problems with Bluetooth audio, Wi-Fi connectivity in New Zealand, terminal app functionality, and various display and system performance issues.

Release and Availability

OTA updates for Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 have started rolling out to eligible Pixel devices. Users can also sideload the update if preferred. Google plans to release the stable version of Android 16 QPR2 to all users in December 2025.
