Samsung's Gallery Assistant Centralizes Editing Tools

16 Sep 2025

Samsung is introducing Gallery Assistant, currently in beta within the Samsung Members app, for its One UI 8 devices. Galaxy users in South Korea are the first to sign up, and a stable version is anticipated soon, though a broader release remains uncertain. The service aims to centralize and enhance photo and video editing tools on flagship devices like the Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7.

Innovative Features

The standout feature of this new application is batch editing, allowing users to apply the same creative or corrective edits across multiple photos and videos simultaneously. This capability is designed to save time and streamline workflows, especially for users who regularly process large volumes of media.

Additional tools include photo and video compression, complete with a compression-strength slider that provides granular control over file size and quality. The application supports HEVC for videos, offering users another compact format option without sacrificing quality. Other editing enhancements include the ability to rotate and flip images, advanced cropping operations, and an Image Clipper tool that can extract objects from photos to be used as standalone stickers or to create new files.

Another key feature is a robust watermark tool, which allows users to tile a watermark pattern across an entire image, complicating unauthorized cropping efforts. Such security enhancements are crucial for professional and personal content creators looking to protect their visual media.

User Engagement

As of this writing, the beta version is available for Galaxy device users through the Samsung Members app, by simply tapping on the Gallery Assistant beta banner. This trial phase is expected to gather user feedback, which will contribute to refinements and possibly new features in the stable release. The beta gives users a head-start in utilizing these tools and setting new standards in mobile photo and video management.

Gallery Assistant provides several customization options that go beyond Samsung’s default editor. These tools give users, both novice and experienced, more power at their fingertips to enhance their photo and video collection. Although Samsung hasn't officially revealed a date for a global rollout, it’s clear that these innovations have the potential to set new benchmarks in mobile media editing and management.
