Google Messages has introduced an update for Android users, allowing up to 20 chats to be pinned. This update doubles the previous capacity, providing more flexibility in organizing important conversations.
New Pin Limit Details
Initially, Google Messages supported only three pinned chats. This limit increased over time to five and then ten. The latest adjustment brings the pin limit to 20, as noted in beta build messages.android_20251103_00_RC00. The feature is now being rolled out to the broader public application.
Practical Implications
Pinned chats displayed on the inbox generally range between eight to ten conversations, depending on screen size, prompting potential scrolling through two pages to view all 20 pins. The update aims to enhance user experience by prioritizing essential chats at the top of their inboxes.
To pin a conversation, users need to touch and hold a chat in their list and then tap the pin icon. A confirmation bubble will appear showing the number of pinned chats out of the maximum 20, confirming the successful adjustment.
