Opera Introduces AI to Android Browser

04 Dec 2025

Opera has integrated artificial intelligence capabilities into its Android browser, enhancing user interaction with websites and images. The update, available as of today, incorporates contextual AI that utilizes the current tab's content for queries and visual intelligence for image-based searches. This shift aims to align the mobile browser experience more closely with Opera One on desktop.

New AI Features Explored

The Android Opera browser now includes a dedicated AI access point adjacent to the search box. This allows users to seamlessly choose between traditional search and the new Ask AI feature without navigating through additional menus. Contextual AI employs only the active tab's content and secures user data by encrypting transmitted information and retaining it for no more than 30 days. Notably, this data is not used for AI training or advertising purposes.

With visual intelligence, users can upload images directly from their phones or use the camera to take photos that are then analyzed for tasks such as translation or detailed inquiry. This feature aims to streamline interactions and enhance accessibility for mobile users.

Impact and User Experience

These AI enhancements allow Android users to interact with their mobile browsers as they would on a desktop, providing a more intuitive and efficient browsing experience. By focusing on security and privacy, Opera ensures that sensitive user data is protected, boosting consumer trust.

Overall, these updates are designed to provide a more seamless and engaging experience by reducing the number of actions required to switch between browsing and asking AI-driven questions.
