Google has launched Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1.1 to tackle app crashes on Pixel devices. The update targets startup crash issues reported after QPR3 Beta 1, notably affecting apps like Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and various banking apps.
Update Details
This release is available for eligible Pixel phones enrolled in the Android Beta Program, starting with the Pixel 6 series and including newer models, such as foldable phones. Most devices receive build CP11.251114.007, while the Pixel 7a has a distinct build. This over-the-air package is approximately 60MB for models like the Pixel 10 Pro XL, automatically appearing for users on the beta channel.
App Compatibility and Issues
The update reportedly resolves the crash issue for most banking apps, restoring their functionality. However, some Microsoft apps like Teams and Outlook may continue to experience crashes. Clearing app or system cache has limited efficacy in these instances.
Participation Caution
Google advises that exiting the Android Beta Program after installing QPR3 Beta 1.1 could lead to data corruption. Users not intending to remain in the beta are recommended to forego this update or await QPR3 Beta 2.
For users committed to the beta program, updating is encouraged as it addresses significant stability issues, enhancing app usability without introducing major changes.
