Google Home App Update Expands Ask Home Feature

27 Oct 2025

Google has launched version 4.1 of its Google Home app for iOS and Android, extending the Ask Home feature to more users and making essential improvements. This feature, exclusive to Google Home Premium subscribers, enhances smart home interactions by answering natural-language questions and providing daily summaries.

Application Enhancements

The new version aims to resolve several issues from the prior Material 3 redesign. Users on iOS can expect a smoother Home tab, addressing scrolling complaints from version 4.0. On Android, the update resolves a display bug where light items didn't appear grey when turned off and adjusts incorrect labels for Ask Home summaries that misrepresented updates.

Subscription Details

Google Home Premium is available in two tiers: standard at $10 per month or $100 annually, and advanced at $20 per month or $200 annually. Google's AI plans, Pro and Ultra, incorporate these tiers and are included with eligible Pixel purchases for a complimentary year of Google AI Pro.

Expanded Ask Home Features

Ask Home facilitates multi-step queries and serves as an in-app search tool for toggles. The upgrade strengthens its capability to process natural-language commands smoothly, broadening access and functionality.
