Pixel Phone Expands Global Features and Availability

29 Sep 2025

Google has announced a series of updates to its Pixel Phone app that will broaden its feature set and international reach. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance the user experience and provide more versatile functionality to Pixel users worldwide.

Expanding Call Capabilities

The Pixel Phone app will now allow basic call recording in all regions where Pixel devices are available, recognizing the utility of this feature for AI summaries and transcription services. This addition supports the Pixel 6 and newer models, and Google reminds users to respect privacy by considering their call participants when using call recording.

Furthermore, Google revealed that Call Screen functionality will extend to Android Auto, allowing users to manage incoming calls while driving safely. By the end of the year, users will also gain the ability to activate Call Notes from their vehicles, enhancing the hands-free communication options.

International Feature Rollout

Google is taking significant steps to increase the global availability of its Pixel Phone features. Key functionalities such as call recording and screen management will be reaching users in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, India, and Ireland. Specific enhancements like Call Notes will be introduced as a beta preview in selected countries, including Australia, Canada, India, and Ireland.

The company is particularly focused on India, where Pixel 10 users will soon experiment with a beta version of Manual Call Screen available in English and Hindi. This functionality is designed to be more effective with future upgrades planned for audio translation to help users communicate across language barriers.

Visual and Functional Enhancements

In addition to expanding feature availability, Google is refreshing the visual interface of the Pixel Phone app, aiming to heighten user interaction ease and effectiveness. Enhancements include a redesigned Favorites carousel on the Home tab, an improved recent calls list, and streamlined options for responding to calls with fewer taps.

The introduction of new features such as Magic Cue, Voice Translate, and Take a Message on the Pixel 10 models further showcase Google’s commitment to adding intelligence and convenience to its Pixel Phone ecosystem. Overall, these updates reflect Google's dedication to providing a personalized and efficient user experience across its expanding global audience.
