Google has introduced a refreshed design for the Gemini app on Android, featuring a new homepage and 'My Stuff' hub for generated content. This update, released in version 16.45 of the app, enhances the user interface and content management, yet remains exclusive to Android, with iOS and web versions pending.
Interface Updates
The redesigned homepage now features a bluish-gray background in light mode and a black background in dark mode. The greeting has been simplified to 'Hi,' with an improved user prompt, 'Where should we start.' Suggestions are now presented in a left-aligned list, enhancing readability.
Additionally, the chat interface incorporates a new conversation button, replacing the former Google account switcher. Users can still manage their Google accounts within other parts of the app. The interface now offers direct access to Pin, Rename, and Delete options via a dropdown in the conversation UI.
'My Stuff' and Content Generation
The 'My Stuff' section, newly added to the hamburger menu, organizes AI-generated images, videos, and Canvas projects separately from chats. Selecting an item from 'My Stuff' directs users to the original Gemini conversation.
Google is emphasizing content creation within Gemini, leveraging its Imagen and Veo models for generating photos and videos. The app also introduces features like 'Ingredients to Video' to streamline video creation processes.
