LibrePods now offers AirPods users additional features on Android and Linux devices. Users no longer need an iPhone to access features such as ear detection and adaptive transparency.
Feature Expansion
The LibrePods app unlocks multiple AirPods functionalities for non-Apple devices. Developed through reverse engineering, it enables features like:
- Ear detection and head gestures.
- Conversational awareness and switching between noise control modes.
- Accurate battery level information.
- Customizations including accessibility settings and device renaming.
It supports all AirPods models, offering comprehensive functionality on AirPods Max and recent AirPods Pro models.
Installation Requirements
An Android Bluetooth stack bug limits LibrePods to rooted devices with the Xposed framework. However, OnePlus and Oppo devices with ColorOS or OxygenOS 16 can bypass rooting for partial app functionality.
The introduction of LibrePods opens up advanced AirPods features to a new user base, expanding usability beyond Apple's ecosystem.
