Meta has introduced new features to Threads to enhance user control over conversations. Announced on 2025-10-29, the updates include reply approvals and expanded activity filters.
New Conversation Tools
Threads now allows users to approve or disapprove comments before they appear publicly, providing authors with greater control. Users can manage replies individually or in bulk, with options to toggle approvals per post. The activity feed filters were also updated to enable users to view replies solely from people they follow or those with mentions, streamlining interaction.
Additional Features
In addition to managing replies, Threads introduced a 'ghost post' feature. This feature enables posts to disappear within 24 hours, offering a more transient approach to sharing. Threads also supports group chats accommodating up to 50 participants, featuring customizable chat names and invite links. The expanded messaging options include photos, videos, GIFs, and stickers, with enhanced privacy settings.
Implications for Threads Users
These updates aim to improve user experience on Threads, allowing for more curated and meaningful interactions. By introducing reply approvals and activity filters, Meta is providing tools for maintaining cleaner and more relevant comment sections.
