Spotify has introduced several features aimed at enhancing the music streaming experience for both Premium and free users.
Connect and Offline Features
Spotify Connect allows users to control playback on different devices under the same account. This feature requires devices to be on the same Wi-Fi network, ensuring seamless multi-device control.
The Offline Backup feature automatically creates a playlist from cached tracks when an internet connection is unavailable. Premium users need to have Offline Listening enabled, with at least five songs played online, for this feature to update effectively.
Interaction and Social Tools
Spotify Jam enables group listening by allowing Premium users to host a session where all attendees, including free users, can listen simultaneously. Hosts can invite others via Bluetooth, QR codes, or links, making music sessions more social. While free users cannot host Jams, they can participate fully.
The Blend feature lets up to 10 users merge their musical tastes into one playlist, which updates daily. Unlike real-time listening, Blend focuses on shared discovery through daily refreshed playlists.
Customization and Profile Management
Users can curate their listening experience by excluding specific tracks or playlists from their taste profile, ensuring recommendations remain accurate without being skewed by occasional guilty pleasures.
These features offer Spotify users a high degree of control and flexibility in their listening, keeping the platform competitive in an evolving digital music landscape.
