Enable Live Scores on Android with Google App

06 Jan 2026

Android devices now allow users to receive real-time sports updates with the Google app's Live Scores feature. Introduced in 2018, this functionality alerts users about various sports events directly on their screen.

Setup Process

To enable automatic live sports scores, users should follow these steps:

  • Open the Google app (colorful G icon) on your phone.
  • Type the match or sports series you want to follow in the search box, such as "MLB scores" or "Cricket scores."
  • In the search results, tap the "Pin Live Score" button on a match card.
  • The live score will appear as a floating bubble on the screen, movable to any edge.

Tapping the bubble expands a floating card with detailed statistics and current scores. Users can automatically pin future matches by selecting teams of interest.

Features and Requirements

The Google app also includes celebration animations for significant events like goals or wickets. This feature operates on most Android phones without requiring high-end hardware. To ensure optimal performance, the latest version of the Google app and Android OS should be installed.

The app offers a full match card view containing scorecards, live commentary, and stats, with options to be redirected to external services for live streaming.

By leveraging Live Scores, Android users can stay informed of sports updates efficiently, enhancing their viewing experience without the need for frequent app checks.
