Rockstar Games announced the upcoming launch of the original Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare expansion for several new platforms on 2023-12-02. This release will be available for iOS, Android, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, offering the iconic 2010 game to a broader audience.
Platform Details and Enhancements
The updated game will include several technical improvements, such as targeting 60 frames per second (fps), improved image quality, high dynamic range (HDR) support, and resolutions up to 4K on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 will also benefit from DLSS, HDR, and mouse controls, ensuring a high-quality experience.
Mobile versions will feature user-friendly controls and allow Netflix subscribers to download and play as part of their subscription, further broadening the game's reach.
Upgrade Availability
Players owning the PS4, Nintendo Switch, or backward-compatible Xbox One digital versions can digitally upgrade to the new versions for free, retaining existing save data. This seamless upgrade aims to keep original game content accessible to loyal users while incentivizing upgrades to newer hardware.
The enhanced versions result from collaborations with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games. They will be included in the GTA+ library and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, marking a significant extension of the game's availability.
