Google Photos is testing a new AI-powered shortcut called 'Ask' within its photo viewer, exclusive to U.S. users. This feature allows users to query their photo libraries without exiting the image interface.
New AI Features Unveiled
The 'Ask' button, discovered in version 7.52.0 of Google Photos, connects with Google's established Ask Photos tool. This feature facilitates conversational searches, allowing users to make queries like 'Show me photos from my last birthday.'
The app's code reveals potential features involving an 'Outfits collection,' which may automatically organize wardrobe photos. This could link with Google's Doppl virtual try-on technology, hinting at possible AI-driven styling tools in the future.
Availability and Future Prospects
Currently, the Ask Photos feature is available only in the United States under a separate Ask tab for eligible users. Google has not confirmed the public launch of the in-viewer Ask button or the integration with Outfits and Doppl technology. These enhancements aim to improve user interaction, potentially transforming how users organize and query their photos.
