Nintendo has expanded its Nintendo Store app to iOS and Android, streamlining the purchase of physical and digital games. The app opens product pages in the device's default browser for purchases and sends push notifications for sales and wishlist discounts.
New Features and Availability
The Nintendo Store app offers new features, including displaying playtime data from Nintendo Switch consoles and older platforms like the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, although the latter's data is available only up to February 2020. Users previously accessed this information through parental controls. A Nintendo Account and network ID are required for some features.
Originally launched in Japan as MyNintendo five years ago, the app is now available in the UK, US, Canada, and much of Europe, providing users with up-to-date Nintendo news and events.
User Experience and Requirements
The app aims to enhance user experience by making it easier to stay informed and make purchases. However, accessing some functionalities requires specific credentials: a Nintendo Account and network ID. The inclusion of push notifications for sales and discounts adds an engaging element for users looking to maximize gaming deals.
