Google has introduced a space-themed Easter egg within Android 14, offering users an interactive exploration game. The Easter egg appears on all devices updated to the latest Android version, providing a playful twist to smartphone usage.
Space Game Features
In this Easter egg, users can pilot a tiny spacecraft against a starry backdrop. It features live coordinates, velocity, and detailed stellar data, such as star names and spectral classes. The game, while simple, encourages exploration with interactive thruster controls that allow users to navigate space environments.
The Easter egg is accessible by navigating to Settings, selecting 'About Phone', and tapping the Android version until the Android 14 logo appears. Pressing and holding this logo initiates the game. This Easter egg is notable for its accessibility, needing no additional apps or settings adjustments.
Compatibility and Updates
Android 14's Easter egg is available on devices from several manufacturers, including Pixel, Samsung's One UI6, OnePlus's OxygenOS 14, and Xiaomi's HyperOS. It's a self-contained feature that functions without internet access or special permissions.
In the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 update, Google updated the Easter egg’s opening graphic to a downward-pointing triangle, reflecting future Android branding, while keeping the game mechanics unchanged. This update suggests Google’s ongoing commitment to incorporating playful elements in its operating systems.
